Soccer Festival Sold Out

Its all systems go for the Cape Town Stadium Soccer festival and this historic occasion has been sold-out.
SAIL STADEFRANCE said from the first press interview that only 20 000 tickets will be available for the opening of the Cape Town Stadium when Ajax Cape town play Santos.
This is an all ticket affair but the organisers did not expect to put up sold-out signs 10 days before the event. In fact the demand for tickets in the week leading up to the event is such that the organisers could have easily sold another 20 000 tickets but because this is the first of three test events before the City hands-over the stadium to FIFA, only the first tier will be opened to assess the operating systems of the Cape Town Stadium.
Shooz Mekuto the Ajax Cape Town PRO said, We are not surprised by the demand for more tickets. Cape Town is fanatical about football and when Ajax and Santos faced each other in the ABSA Cup final in 2007, the Athlone Stadium was packed to the rafters. This just shows that the support for local football is as passionate as ever.
We looking forward to a great event and those spectators who have tickets for Saturday are in for a memorable of football and great entertainment provided by Freshlyground.
The gates open at 13h30 and we appeal to all ticket bearing spectators to arrive early to avoid a rush just before kick-off.
The City of Cape Town is providing a free shuttle service from the Civic Centre in Hertzog Boulevard to the stadium and back and all you need to do is present your match-day tickets.
A Helpline has been set up for those who require further information on the event and can be reached on 021 487 6800

Dear Mr. Comitis I am not sure if you have received responses from people regarding the soccer spectacular happening on Saturday, but let me say that i am disgusted that such an historic event has been poorly marketed . I found out about the game by chance reading the local newspaper and my first thought was why have i not seen any posters, radio ads, newspaper coverage and t.v input on this event. The stadium organisors response after complaints from the public was that the festive season slowed down ticket sales and that they were planning a full on marketing plan......... i suppose the little ad in local newspapers is full-on and the note on E-TV news that the game is sold out is marketing. If it is then wow, my grandmother would have thought of something more innovative. My father-in law belongs to the supporters club as well as a few friends of mine and all of them are not going to the game because we all found out to late. If this game had been marketed big from the beginning you would have easily sold 40 000 tickets as there is a large sum of supporters that would attend and then you have the ordinary Capetonians who do not normally go to soccer games for obvious reasons (dagga smoking at games ) who would come just to see the new stadium and would bring their kids and other family members. I am placing the blame at your doorstep (as well as Mr. Allie) as you have a responsibility as a club owner to really make use of these opportunities to grow the game and the support base in this province. I have been to a fair amount of PSL games and the poor attendance has always been an eyesore for a province that used to dominate soccer in the heydays. Why is the rugby trial game been allocated 40 000 tickets and soccer only 20 000. As an avid Ajax supporter i am utterly disgusted and am waiting on your response. Kind Regards
